Pornography Fears Lead to Ban on 3G Mobile Phones

How 3G technology faces the reaction regarding high-quality video of mobile phone which could be a good media for showing, say, a pornography content?

Cambodia’s prime minister, Hun Sen, yesterday banned the latest generation of mobile phone services in Cambodia to curb the spread of pornography, heeding a request from his wife.

Bun Rany recently urged Hun Sen to prohibit the use of 3G phones, which offer features such as high-quality video. In a petition addressed to Hun Sen last week, Bun Rany argued that obscene images could increase the “sexual exploitation of women and children … that would cast our society as a very dark one.” [3G!]
