Aurora and Vibo Team Up to Sell 3G Handsets
Aurora Telecom, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Taiwan-based IT distributor Aurora Corporation, and Vibo Telecom, one of the five operators of 3G mobile communication services in Taiwan, on April 18 jointly announced a strategic-alliance to sell 3G handsets and service under a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) license
Under the agreement, Aurora Telecom will purchase 3G numbers at wholesale from Vibo and rent Vibo’s 3G infrastructure and operating capacity while selling 3G numbers and handsets under its own brand through an existing retail network of 230 outlets throughout Taiwan. Aurora is the 10th MVNO licensee in Taiwan but is the first one with the competitive advantage of having its own retail outlets. [3G!]
