3G Videophone Will Run Windows Mobile

Taiwanese ODM Compal Communications Inc. (CCI) is developing a 3G cellular videophone/PDA running Windows Mobile 5.0, according to Radvision, the supplier of a 3G-324M protocol toolkit to CCI. The new 3G handheld will include an “advanced” video application that lets users subscribe to video conferences and participate in video communities, Radvision says.

CCI’s new 3G PDA/videophone will be based on an Intel PXA270 XScale processor, according to Radvision. The company says it developed the CCI videophone application using its 3G-324M Toolkit, in collaboration with both Microsoft and Intel. The toolkit includes APIs for 3G-based multimedia communication devices. [3G!]
