Topex and Redline Deliver End-to-End IP Solution

Topex, an innovative European company, pioneer in 3G devices and recognized provider of carrier class Next Generation Network equipment and Redline Communications, a leading world-wide provider of WiMAX broadband wireless access networks, today announce it will showcase an end-to-end IP solution for voice, video and data based on Topex’ NGN equipment and Redline’s WiMAX products at CERF in Bucharest Romania.

In this solution Topex brings its strong expertise in developing VoIP based network infrastructure equipment including softswitches and media gateways. Redline Communications, the first in the world to receive WiMAX Forum Certification™ for a complete WiMAX system, brings years of expertise in deploying large scale wireless broadband networks. Redline’s suite of backhaul and last mile wireless network access products will support the IP solution. The voice & video switching, the interconnection with other networks and the customer premises equipment operate through Topex Next Generation Network equipment.

The core of Topex solution includes the proven, highly scalable, Topex multiSWITCH engine. Gateways between the IP and other landline or mobile networks are also included, alongside with Topex Double Wireless Routers. With its open architecture, Topex multiSWITCH provides WISPs great flexibility to develop custom solutions based on best-of-breed hardware and software components. The Topex Media Gateway family includes all major signaling protocols in the industry. They allow seamless interconnection between WISP and various TDM and VoIP networks through its multiple signaling and multimedia conversion features (SIP, H232, SS7, ISDN, R2).

Therefore, WISPs can strategically integrate the solution within the existing core infrastructures. The Media Gateway family covers broad capacity scale starting from one voice channel up to multiple E1 trunks. Based on the success of Topex WiFi Routers for HSDPA and UMTS-TDD, demonstrated at CeBIT 2006, Topex integrates in the solution the WiMAX version of its WiFi router.

Working together, the two companies bring to the market a truly innovative solution and a valuable choice for all the players in wireless industry. It means an important development in broadband wireless access market and it is expected to generate significant interest among service providers and enterprises.

Kevin Suitor, VP Business Development Redline said: “Voice over WiMAX offers service providers a tremendous value proposition especially in emerging markets where copper infrastructure does not exist. Our joint solution provides an IP-centric voice solution that is highly scalable and provides a differentiated consumer experience.” [3G!]
