Amazon launches music store

The Dominant Apple iTunes music store could not walk alone anymore.

Amazon has launched a beta version of its Amazon MP3 music download store.

This service has over 2 million songs from more than 180,000 artists represented by over 20,000 major and independent labels including EMI and Universal Music.

These songs can be played on all existing music hardware devices including the iPod, Zune, iRiver, RAZR, NSeries, etc.

According to Ed Burnette, the Amazon’s music is free from digital rights management (DRM) restrictions, so you can burn it to CD, copy it to your other computers, etc. without having to worry about the content expiring or otherwise becoming unusable in the future.
