Qualcomm wins patent battle against Nokia
US CDMA pioneer, Qualcomm wins in the patent battle against giant phone manufacturer, Nokia. The U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) dropped the Nokia lawsuit due to pending arbitration, the commission said. In the suit dismissed by the ITC, Nokia had requested the ITC bar the importation of certain Qualcomm chips used in cell phones.
“From our point of view, Nokia is not entitled to sue Qualcomm for patent infringement,” Alex Rogers, Qualcomm’s senior vice president, legal counsel, said. There are more than a dozen lawsuits pending between Nokia and Qualcomm on three continents.
