As Japan is one of the largest Apple market, Steve Jobs finds out big opportunity for iPhone to be brought in. Seems the idea will come true in near future. Apple seeks for partner in either DoCoMo or Softbank.

LG launched 2 new music phones

Korean manufacturer, LG, launched 2 new phones. Both are categorized as music phones. The first one is Rhapsody LB3300. Another sliding phone, it has touch wheel for music navigation, music lyrics playback capability, and has a special Bluetooth headset set-up, that allows two persons to listen to music simultaneously.

New RTS mobile game to be launched for Korean market

SteamIron, claimed to be the true Real Time Strategy (RTS) mobile games, will be launched next January 2008 for Korean market. The game will feature multiplayer RTS game for 3G handsets, short and fast-pace game session, and real time 1-vs-1. It is created by Singaporean based studio, Mikoishi. Toshiba to launch 920T sliding phone

Toshiba plan to unveil its latest 920T phone. It will be a 3G sliding phone and equipped with built-in 1 GB memory. Another features are 1seg support, 3.24 megapixels camera, GPS function, and up to 5.3 hours of recording time. The phone will only available in Japan market. Source: aving

Juniper forecasts Mobile WiMAX to reach 80 million subcribers in 2013

In their latest report, entitled "Mobile WiMAX: Global Opportunities, Strategies & Forecasts, 2007-2013", Juniper Research forecasts that Mobile WiMAX will be subscribed by 80 million people within 5 years. The main issue for this success story are availability of suitable devices and service differentiation.

Nokia uses photo recognition for social life

Nokia is working on concept to make our life better (and easier). They plan to use photo recognition for shopping, reading menu, and any information required. The idea is to use cameraphones to take pictures of something and send them to the web, and then receive information back on the object.

Momail available for more than 1000 mobiles

Mobile email application maker, Momail, has achieved more than 1000 mobile phones supported, 4 times more than closest competitor. "We estimate that more than 300 million mobile phones will be sold worldwide this quarter: In UK alone, approximately 6 million handsets will be sold, and Momail functions on almost all of them”, says Roger Grönberg, CEO of Momail. Momail is free of charge and works on all mobiles with built-in email support.

Etisalat to buy Indonesia’s XL stake

Emirate based telecommunication company, Etisalat, reported to buy 16% stake of XL, third largest Indonesia's telecom company. Total price amounted US$ 438 million. Etisalat will obtain 1.13 billion shares of Rajawali Group, means that there will be no local stakeholder in XL. More than 60% shares are owned by Malaysian, Telecom Malaysia.

Korean’s KT goes global

As the domestic penetration dense up, operators may think to expand its business opportunities abroad. Korean largest telecom operator, KT, opens the road on expanding its business. KT CEO Nam Joong-soo says that the firm aims to build a “Silk Road” of the digital era with its broadband and mobile network technology.
