Sony Ericsson’s first announcement in 2008

As predicted before, Sony Ericsson unveiled some new handsets in Consumer Electronic Show, Las Vegas. There are 3 new phone in their line ups. Two Walkman phone, W760 and W350, and a clamshell phone, Z555.

The first, W760 draws lot of attention. It is called “global walkman” since it can be used in any GSM band and UMTS/HSDPA band. It supports UMTS/HSDPA 850/19002100 and GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900.

Bundled with 1 GB memory stick, the phone offers HSDPA support, 3.2 megapixels camera, 2.2 inch large display, and first Sony Ericsson phone with built-in GPS. The GPS is supported by Wayfinder Navigator application. Unfortunately we must pay for subscription. Sony Ericsson W760 will be available in three color versions (Rocky Silver, Fancy Red and Intense Black) in selected markets from Q2 2008.

The second one is W350. It is flip down form factor, one we rarely see since the era of Ericsson’s T-series. It is powered by 1.3 megapixels camera and 14 MB internal memory and 512 MB memory stick micro. A 10.5 mm thin, the phone has 1.9 inch TFT display and Bluetooth Stereo Streaming for wire-free music listening.

W350i is an EDGE 900/1800/1900 phone that will be available in selected markets from Q2 2008. The W350a is an EGDE 850/1800/1900 phone for the Americas that will also be available from Q2 2008.

The last one is clamshel Z555. At glance the body motif is quite similar with Nokia Prism series. It features a 1.9″ 262K display with 176 x 220 pixels resolution and an external OLED monochrome screen supporting resolution of 128 x 36 pixels. The internal memory is only 12MB, but it is expandable through the built-in M2 card slot.

The Sony Ericsson Z555 will measure 95 x 49 x 16.5 mm, weighting 95g. The phone will be available in selected markets as soon as Q1 2008.
