Softbank profit roses as DoCoMo slides down

Japan third largest mobile operator, Softbank, reported that their Q3 2007 profit roses 9.1%. This is a bless as DoCoMo and KDDI profit slides down. Softbank has used a cut-price strategy since buying Vodafone Group Japan mobile unit in 2006 to lure users from bigger rivals NTT DoCoMo Inc and KDDI Corp. In the business year started in April, the newcomer has grabbed more users than its rivals on a net basis, mostly from DoCoMo, which controls more than half of Japan’s mobile market.
