Sony Ericsson rocks Mobile World Congress 2008, unveil first Windows-Mobile-powered phone
Sony Ericsson unveiled several new products in Mobile World Congress 2008 - Barcelona. The Japan-Sweden venture is revealing 7 products in total. The star? Brand new Microsoft-powered smartphone, XPERIA X1.
Yes, after years exclusively built smartphone with Symbian’s UIQ, now Sony Ericsson is experimenting with new vendor. The software giant convinced Sony Ericsson to use their product, Windows Mobile 6 Professional, for their new smartphone. But Sony Ericsson is still using their own camera and music player application.
The phone has 500 MHz CPU Intel ARM processor, global worldwide band support (4 GSM bands and 3 UMTS bands), 3 inch WVGA display screen, HSDPA connectivity, 400 MB internal memory supported with MicroSD slot, on-board GPS, WiFi, side-sliding QWERTY keyboard, and not to forget 3.2 megapixels camera. The phone is expected to be in market by Q3-Q4 2008. Indeed, it will compete head-to-head with Nokia N95 and Apple iPhone.
