RCom want Europe WiMax operator
Reliance Communication or RCom (note: not RComm), The India’s largest wireless operator after AirTel, is close to acquiring a Europe-based specialty WiMax operator. Unfortunately, the source didn’t clearly tell who is the target here.
Anyway, whoever it is, this target seems has licenses and spectrum for WiMax operations in 20 countries, including (again and again) the earth’s largest market: China.
This acquisition will give RCom access to 40 top cities in China and other 49 contries by 2011.
WiMax (worldwide interoperability of microwave access) has become a gold mine in telecommunication since it has been known as a low-cost way to provide internet connectivity in places where laying cables is difficult.
