Doing BlackBerry’s push email on the sky

Attention please! This plane will take off in a second. Please make sure your BlackBerry is on …

“What?! Are you kidding?” The traditional policy is suppose to not sending any messages while you were flying within Boeing or AirBus. Of course, it’s danger. Those messages could make an interference to aircraft system or the ground communication network.

But Qantas, australian airline has said that it would unveiled a new technology on its domestic aircraft from late 2008 to allow their customers to send or receive email and SMS via mobile phone or personal electronic device.

Qantas spokesman, Mr. John Borghetti said that they had lead the industry in evaluating the technology on a B767-300 aircraft between 2007 and January 2008.

Qantas have partner up with AeroMobile, A joint ARINC and Telenor partnership to bring this service safely. For those who want to send or receive an SMS will need only a GSM phone and a global roaming account, while customers who want to send or receive emails will need a GPRS enabled device like your lovely BlackBerry or an appropriately equipped laptop.

Oh yeah, don’t forget this one: Qantas tested this technology on Boeing B767-300 and AirBus A330-200. So don’t try this at other aircraft or you’ll never have a chance to see what you have done :)
