N-Gage reborn!
Play it here: N81 8 Gb is N-Gage ready.
The long-awaited and famous mobile gaming service from Nokia, N-Gage (not the device) finally will reborn. On Sunday, it will be announced officially, but I don’t know why Nokia spokesman (somebody called ikona) seems to be very pleasure to scream it out on Thursday April 3, 2008 via their blog.
Three well-known game vendors have signed up on N-Gage; EA, Gameloft, and Glu Mobile.
This logo is back. Nokia hope you will miss it.
Well done, that’s a good news isn’t? Actually, not really so. You can access this service if only you are using the five expensive model from Nokia i.e. N95, N81, N81 8 Gb, N82, N95 8 Gb. How about if you don’t have one? Just forget it, wait, and see the future (or write it like me).
26 different region worldwide will be served by N-Gage exclusively with one section made available for International users. Nine (9) out of them is Asian; India, Bahrain, China, Kuwait, Hongkong, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Taiwan, and UEA.
The decision from Nokia to made this service available only from their high-end products is still logical to be accepted though. Here are the reason why:
- Since they can collect 10-15 millions user-base from this five model, Nokia will not worried to try this service globally. Not even with the games’ price tags. Those users must be rich enough to pay this service annually. Not all of them. Just some of them I bet.
- Those five phones is a high-end gadget with a good and nice component to play a high-level games, not a low or middle class games. Anyway, how can you ask EA to make a game like the historical Pong. Oh no …. perhaps if EA want it then they must add it with word like this: “EA’s Pong” like “John Carpenter’s Vampire”.
- Those phones are ready for web based service like this since they are all 3G. It means there is no problem with data streaming. Unless the users have a trouble with their own regional mobile operator.
Now what next? I think the future for web based mobile game (at least for N-Gage) lies in the word “social”. As a prove, N-Gage has provide their users with social features like “My Games”, “My Profile”, and “My Friend”. Maybe, this platform is going to be the perfect place for gamers worldwide to hang out in global room.
Yeah, if you hold one of those phones above. Go head. Enjoy the N-Gage now!
