The 100 millionth Panasonic in Japan
Congratulation! Mr Konosuke Matsushita must be proud of this.
For a moment of glory:
We have to go back to 1979, 29 years ago when Panasonic launched their first mobile phone in Japan; the historical 7 kg TZ-801. Unfortunately, this handset is not a hand-set. Indeed, TZ-801 is a tied-in-car phone which are able to used within service by NTT.
Is that a mobile phone or …. TZ-801 and TZ-802A?
Eight years later in 1987, the TZ-802A gone to the public (the same year Nokia launched their Mobira Cityman 900). Unlike its predecessor, TZ-802A is a shoulder phone. However, this is not the one you want to carry it up (take a look to the picture. Oh no ….). Still in the same year, Panasonic also released the TZ-802B which was deserved to be called as a mobile phone since users can use it with their hand easily (not bad for that age).
The new Viera Keitai helping Panasonic reached this record.
After this model, Panasonic had launched their several superstars like; Mova Series, i-mode, FOMA, move P504i, Felica, and the newest FOMA P905i (Viera Keitai). For complete information on number, check the graph below!
18 years to reach the 10 millionth. Yet only 11 years to reach the 90 millionth.
Just for a comparison:
Nokia mustn’t be underestimate with this news since they had 200 million N 1100 sold out in all over the world by May 2007. Unbelievable!
