Samsung water-powered cell phone in 2010
This is the prototype of Motorola-Angstrom Hydrogen-Powered. What about Samsung’s water-powered?
In 2010, a distinguished gadget with water is about to come. Most mobile phones or other gadgets nowadays use lithium battery as their source of power, but Samsung Electro-Mechanics’ Oh Yong-soo said that those gadget may switch to water in 2010. Probably you should surprise about this. Actually me too. However, this is how this breakthrough technology will WORK:
“When the handset is turned on, metal and water in the phone react to produce hydrogen gas. The gas is then supplied to the fuel cell where it reacts with oxygen in the air to generate power.”
While other fuel cells need methanol to produce hydrogen, here Samsung’s needs only water. The durability is amazing too, it could powered mobile phone for 10 hours. It means two times more powerful than ordinary battery out there.
But like any other technology, this innovation, at least form me, also has such drawback. Mr Oh said that users should change the hydrogen cartridge about every five days if only they use their cell phones for four hours a day. At least until Samsung’s researcher could replace this hydrogen with water.
Again, the durability is so cool here, but changing a hydrogen cartridge? If this will look like changing my printer cartridge, then we should be very careful though.
Ohhh … that black stinky liquid! Keep it away from me ….
