Meet The 3GWeek Most Innovative Company

An innovative CEO is a significant business for every company, including Apple

This short report is based on Business Week’s The World’s 50 Most Innovative Companies. I think company is not the only thing who deserve this award, blog should get it too. Someday … Well, since there are 50 companies there, I try to pick a couple of them which are likely used to be informed in this blog. Here they are with their position:

  1. Apple in 1st
  2. Tata Group in 6th
  3. Sony in 9th
  4. Nokia in 10th
  5. RIM in 13th
  6. Samsung in 26th

When we talk about innovation, what comes first in our mind sometimes is a state when we try to make something different in which after that, many will become our followers. If this is to be truth, then Apple deserve this top position. Steve’s and Co’s brillian product, iPhone with its touch screen feature, set a new era in smart phone’s niche market. When Apple show it how, others suddenly follow them. Samsung, Motorola, Nokia, LG, Sony Ericsson, countless of Taiwan and China’s company plus who’s (company) not. In this case, Apple is numero uno, whether in Business Week or in 3GWeek.

iPhone; set Apple apart ….

Tata Group, the Kingpin of India, is included in this Business Week’s list because its innovation in Nano, The People’s Car. With USD$2.500, Nano is the cheapest car on earth. And don’t get me wrong, we can get this gadget with the same price as MacBook Pro. Don’t we? However, 3GWeek informed and honored Tata Group as the company which want to make India such a cool boy in telecommunication Industry. Especially in the development and implementation of Mobile WiMax through out India, and whole world. Yeah, Chak De! Tata.

Sony is being on the 9th place not just because they win the next-DVD standard war, but also because they dare to playing big in online world with their Play Station 3-based social network, HOME. Actually, 3GWeek bloggers is rarely enough mentioning Sony here, but not with Sony Ericsson. However, since this service is a Social Network, Sony will get into the list too.

It is a mistakes if media doesn’t put Nokia in this list. As a leader and the largest mobile phone company on earth, the word ‘Nokia’ does not explain just the past and present trend in mobile communication but also future. While BW mostly interested in Nokia because its bravery to use anthropologists in China and India (place where Nokia is a king and a gold), 3GWeek will use Morph as the first reason why Nokia is an appropriate company to be the pioneer someday.

RIM, though this name isn’t as powerful as BlackBerry brand name, Lazaridis’ kid had successfully shocking the world with beautiful corporate push-email service. Feature that others used to hesitated once.

The 26th company, Samsung surprisingly put themself there because its innovaton in TV industry, not in mobile communication technology. For me, though accepted, that’s still too bad. Beating Motorola as the world’s second largest mobile phone manufacturer of course is not an easy work. Cool design, slim mobil phones, rich in varian in a short of interval time, and … in 2010 they have planned to give us the water-powered cell phone. Boom, bye-bye lithium.

That’s all folks. Personally, I also want to add LG here. The Korean has joined the mobile phones battleship just a couple years ago but the brand has been widely popular among other old player now. However, probably LG need some unique things which could set them apart from rivals. Not in term of marketing but most importantly, TECHNOLOGY.
