Japan’s NTT DoCoMo introduces new logo

NTT DoCoMo, Inc. and its eight regional subsidiaries unveiled their new corp. logo and other re-branding elements that will be introduced beginning July 1.

According to the company, the changes are based on the DoCoMo’s review after establishing the Corporate Branding Division in August 2007.

The company name is officially an abbreviation of the phrase, “Do Communications Over the Mobile Network”, and is also from a word dokomo, meaning “everywhere” in Japanese.

DoCoMo serves over 53 million customers, including 44 million people subscribing to FOMA, launched as the world’s first 3G mobile service based on W-CDMA in 2001 and also offers a wide variety of leading-edge mobile multimedia services, including i-mode, the world’s most popular mobile e-mail/Internet service, used by 48 million people.
