A PDA sized satellite phone!
Powered by Windows Mobile, this concept phone is similar in size to today’s PDA. This phone will allow users to stay connected to both the satellite and terrestrial network. Yeah, a very innovative idea!
Elektrobit (EB) and TerreStar have said that they are working to enable device manufacturers to rapidly bring the world’s first quad-band GSM and tri-band WCDMA/HSPA smartphone to the market. The handset will also have integrated all-IP satellite-terrestrial voice and data capabilities.
Initial commercial availability of the concept phone is planned for H1 2009.
Dennis Matheson, chief technology officer, TerreStar Networks, said that this handset is to help enterprises, rural communities, and public safety agencies to communicate and create business opportunity.
