The King of Samsung Republic had resigned
Finally, this is the end of Samsung Lee Kun-hee’s saga.
Samsung Group’s Chairman, Lee Kun-hee finally had decided to resign from his position. Unfortunately, this was happened not because he couldn’t keep his responsibility, yet because the 66 year old Lee was indicted on tax evasion charges. Same old story like most conglomerates faced in his life; corruption scandal. Oh no …..
Previously, this 2005 Time 100 Builder & Titan had also been indicted at other cases in 1996 and 2005. Both still have a relation with corruption and bribes. Luckily, Lee were able to maintain his position as the King of Samsung in that era.
NYTimes reported that it remains unclear who will become Lee’s successor after 21 years preside Samsung. Lee Jae-yong, Lee’s sons and heir is doubted to replace his father since he also resigned at the same time when this scandal emerged to public space.
Within this occurrence, we can only questioning whether Samsung could retain its position as the world’s second largest cell phone manufacturer after Nokia. Couldn’t they?
A nice object to watch for 3GWeek Team. Anyway, good bye and thank you Mr. Lee.
Below are some of nice quotes by Lee Kun-hee to accolade his accession:
“Making and selling faulty products is like producing and spreading poison”
“I tell our managers we can’t rest on our laurels”
“Samsung’s goal is to plan a business that creates the future, rather than responding to it.”
