Kickstart: first Blackberry in clamshell design

Ladies and … help me in welcoming the first clamshell of Blackberry; Kickstart!

I don’t know how could they got this stuff, but this post surely involved those geeks who works at Boys Genius Report. So I’m grateful for their kindness. Kudos! (grab their feed here if you need such original post like this).

Ok, what would RIM do to its clamshell Blackberry?

First

of course give it a lid. Every clamshell must have it. The Kickstart’s internal display looks to about 2.5 inch and there is a smaller display on the phone’s outer surface too.

Second

SureType keypad (will become RIM’s legendary stuff some day I think). For those who don’t know what SureType keypad is, read this description first (via Michael Oryl from MobileBurn):

SureType keypads have an extra column of keys on either side of the traditional numeric keypad. Unlike iTap and T9, which allocates 3 or 4 letters to each key, SureType’s extra keys afford it the luxury of having only 2 letters per key.

This Blackberry Pearl keypad is a SureType one. Glad you know it know.

Third

3.5 mm headphone jack on the phone’s side, it’s almost certainly set up for MP3 audio.

Fourth

Camera. No detail information about its Megapixel nor the amount of built-in camera there.

Fifth

Just a prediction. Kickstart will offers Blackberry users with an updated version of RIM’s OS, Blackberry Device Software 4.6, web browser that s able to support a wider range of content standards, including video content embedded into pages. Better camera software and an picture viewer. An improvement in OS’ ability to locate and connect to nearby Wi-Fi networks.

Sixth

Available in store at December this year. No information about the first region which will accept this gadget.

Seventh

Will not yet available in black. They likely targeted woman.

Eighth

It likely won’t degrade another Blackberry type’s price tag.

Ninth

Kickstart isn’t a good name for woman. RIM should find some other else like … (besides Pearl) Jade, Ruby, or perhaps you wanna help me.

Note: First to Six is what BGR told us, others are mine.
