Telexy introduce SymSMB for S60 and UIQ3
Now you can have fun with your phones via PC or Mac.
In April 29, 2008, Telexy Network, Inc., a Port Coquitlam, BC, Canada-based company tipped 3GWeek for their products called SymSMB 3.50 for S60 and SymSMB 3.10 for UIQ3. Both of them are mobile phone’s software to access, organize, and have-fun-with your phone’s folders via computer.
Just like the name itself, SymSMB 3.50 for S60 is software dedicated for mobile phones which run beyond Symbian 60 platform. Gizmos to be examples are Nokia ESeries, NSeries, and Samsung G810. While SymSMB 3.10 for UIQ3 is dedicated for mobile phone that comes with UIQ3 such as Motorola Z10, Sony Ericsson G900, Sony Ericsson P1i, Sony Ericsson P990, and Sony Ericsson W960i.
Shortly speaking, these software will enabling their users to do all kind of things below:
- share phone’s folders or drives such that they can be accessed from any computer on the network;
access your phone from different operating systems: Windows (Vista, XP, Server 2003, 2000), Mac OS, Linux, UNIX; - work with your phone’s files from a computer through “Network Neighborhood” or “My Network Places” without additional software installation or configuration on the computer;
- browse network around your phone as you are used to from your favorite desktop;
- get access to the network computers according to your rights and permissions;
- map network drives for easy access;
- do all from the above using any available transport bearer (Wi-Fi, GPRS, 3G, WiMAX, etc.);a
Is that cool? Well, definitely yes! Believe me cause I’m a computer science student. If anybody want to know more about technology behind these €29.95 software, I’ll refer you to Just What is SMB by Richard Sharpe page. Now I hope you’ll get it. don’t you?
Thanks for Igor … Anyway, I just feel that these software actually need a good name since I personally have a bit difficulty to pronunciation it. Don’t you?
