Lee Yoon-woo (CEO), Hwang Chang-gyu (CTO), and Kwon Oh-hyun.

The new era for Samsung will about to come after this South Korean giant had choose their brand new CEO, Lee Yoon-woo to replace former Lee Kun-hee.

Who Lee Yoon-woo actually is? Shortly speaking, he is a forty years old-experienced gentleman in Samsung which started his debut since 1968 as a worker in Samsung’s display device business (Samsung SDI Co.).

Lee, who in 1985 won The Technology & Science Award for his invention of 256K DRAM is being known as ‘decisive’ in management according to C.W. Chung, an analyst at Lehman Brothers. Under his leadership, Samsung’s decision-making process is expected to be speedy and decisive.

Besides alternation in this position, change also happened in other significant positions like The president of the semiconductor business division and CTO. For the president position, Kwon Oh-hyun will be responsible for that. While for the second, there is Hwang Chang-gyu that need to continue Samsung’s sparkling era in semiconductor business.

Question:

How many Lee actually are there in South Korea this day? Is there any statistics on this?
