Hop-On unveils $10 mobile phone — with no monitor!
The idea behind this is quite simple. When you are travelling, sometimes you need a back-up phone or desiring something simpler. Moreover, if you need to use your mobile phone only to talk, you can buy this phone: very cheap and easy to use. You can simply buy local SIM card and simply use it to make a call.
Hop-On, Inc., the instant phone maker, just announces that its GSM cell phone, the Hop1800, is now available in the United States for $10 USD, and worldwide. It consists of two types. Both HOP1800 phones, one a Dual-band 850/1900MHz or the 900/1800MHz for Europe and Asia.
Its weigh is only 77 grams and offers 4 hours of talk time, 150 hours of standby time and polyphonic ring tones.
The device works with more than 40 U.S. wireless carriers, including AT&T, Cingular, and T-Mobile. Hop-on also offers wireless service.
In order to push “goes green” campaign, while the low price makes the phone disposable, to encourage recycling Hop-on offers a $5 rebate for returning the phone.
In 2001, Hop-on launched the first disposable mobile phone, which cost $30, but failed to enter the market, due to technical concerns.
