NTT DoCoMo let you search Home PC with mobile phone
Pocket U is like having Google Desktop on mobile phone. Cool!
Japan’s largest network operator, NTT DoCoMo will launch Pocket U, a service which enable its subscribers to view and browse their data/content (video, music, or text) at home PC via mobile phone in June 6, 2008.
Based on NTT DoCoMo’s official document, Pocket U means Remotely access PC from phone (via secure VPN) to retrieve videos, music, photos or documents that can be played/opened/stored in the phone. This service is a built-in service that comes with the launch of 906i series in June and 706i series in July 2008.
906i and 706i series comes with Pocket U service.
Here some excerpt from Tech On:
The service will become available after installing “Pocket U Soft” dedicated software on PCs at homes. Mobile phones use their browser, “i-motion” video provision service and PDF viewer for video viewing and browsing. For the connection between a home PC and NTT DoCoMo Inc’s network, a VPN (virtual private network) will reportedly be used to prevent third-party users from pretending to be subscribers and using the service.
