Indosat Q1 Net Profit Report

To save 613.9 billion rupiah is not easy. Congratulation!

Ok, this one is a tough post for a kind of guy like me. Full of number, percentage, and currency. However, Indosat is an Indonesian big telco company which I will be disappointed not to write their Q1 profit report here. Back to 2007, Indosat had made a great achievement after reached IDR 2.04 trillion in net sales. Is that big enough? Yes for Indonesian, but not really so for American. Forget it. Let’s jump to the report.

  1. 27 percent rise in its first-quarter net profit.
  2. Net profit rose to 613.9 billion rupiah ($65.87 million) from 483.9 billion in the same period last year.
  3. Its revenue climbed 13 percent to 4.27 trillion rupiah. ($1 = 9,320 rupiah).

As reported by Reuters, this positive result was helped by strong growth in Indonesia’s mobile phone business. Indonesia’s mobile phone subscribers have risen sharply in recent years and are expected to climb to 120 million by the end of this year from around 90 million at the end of 2007.

Indosat at a glance

If you like to read Reuters, this is what they say about Indosat:

Indosat, around 40 percent owned by Asia Mobile Holdings in which Singapore’s ST Telemedia holds a 75 percent stake, said its first-quarter net profit rose to 613.9 billion rupiah ($65.87 million) from 483.9 billion in the same period last year.

But if people ask me, then here come the list:

  1. It is a second largest network operator in Indonesia after Telkomsel.
  2. They are represented by yellow color.
  3. They are endorsed by famous Dian Sastro Wardoyo and Fedi Nuril.
  4. They have two pre-paid GSM products called Mentari and IM3.
  5. They have one pre-paid CDMA product called Starone.
  6. They have one post-paid GSM product called Matrix.
  7. They were also joining Indonesian operators price war by offering a ridiculous 0,00000000001/s (read: I can’t even spelled it).

Hmmm, let me see if this is a real one ….
