Merdeka 50 Edition is a Pearl covered with 24K and 18K gold.

There are many ways to celebrate your country independence day. From firing up the fireworks to join up into the parade or festivals. But Inobel from Malaysia show us a unique way to celebrate Malaysia 50 years of independence by launching a 24 Karat and 18 Karat golden cellphone called Merdeka 50 Edition.

This gadget is a limited edition. There are only 5000 units available worldwide. Part of the proceeds from each unit sold will goes to eight defined charity organizations which purchasers themself could choose it before they made the deal. However, purchaser still have a chance to specify another organizations if they want to via its order form. Comes with $736.333 and $469.304 in price tag, this gizmo of course will remind us to less than $700 Motorola RAZR2 gold edition in India. Hmmmm, this not bad.

At the first time I watch this handset, I can’t turn off my mind to the famous Blackberry Pearl series. Especially the form factor and its keypad. Isn’t a suretype one? Fortunately it isn’t!
