mobile phone news, reviews & tips

3GWeek June 1st Sunday Carnaval

A smiling Friendster and an angry one.

This is the week of Friendster Mobile, their users, and of course 3GWeek itself. We got 21 posts through this week so let’s start one by one.

On Friendster Mobile

Began with my post on May 21 entitled “Friendster Finally Goes Mobile“, I absolutely couldn’t believe it by myself after a lot of people start commenting on this post. It was began by Itha on May 28th, 2008 at 9:58 am. She made a complain and said like this:

Please remove the mobile version.. I’d rather choose desktop version on my mobile phone, because the mobile ver is too simple.. I can’t see comments and testimonial,, can’t update with enjoyable,, and the most important i can not go back to desktop version.. I dissapointeeD.. What’s wrong with frndstr?? I can not find the link to switch back to desktop ver..

Thanks Itha :) Well currently, there are 29 comments within this post which also made it as the most commented post ever in the history of 3GWeek. Bravo ……

Second post on Friendster Mobile Review

Watching this blazing phenomenon, our managing editor, Mr. Budi Putra asked me and Mr. Amir Karimuddin to write a follow-up post which explained why such a service like Friendster Mobile is so much hated by their own members.

At that time, I denied this request since I thought that I need more data to make a better judgment on this case. Well, thankfully I need not to continue thinking on this issue after Mr. Amir had made it available with his post entitled “Friendster Mobile review (and why people hate it)“.

Just like the first post, this follow-up post also receive a big attention from Friendster Mobile users, especially from Indonesian. At this moment, this post had received 26 comments. Actually, this post has more than that. However, I couldn’t let somebody commented with some disrespects words or statements here. My managing editor told me to banned them lately. Thanks ….

Third post, I defend it!

Since I didn’t really accept what most commentators said, I finally decided to wrote another post which I meant to defend Friendster Mobile. However, though I use “On Defending Friendster Mobile” as a title, it didn’t mean I totally agree on all things FS Mobile team had made. Here I just try to give a different perspective about what really matter here and an answer which I thought those commentators might looking for.

The result? Not bad, hundreds of page view have been generated since then. But with a big point that it seems that those users still couldn’t get what I meant to. Never mind. Embracing the difference, my friends, is a virtue.

What did those commentators mostly said?

Yeah, just guess it by yourself. Most of them were dominated by two words; “es-yu-ci-kei” and “ef-yu-ci-kei”. 3GWeek still pretty tolerant with the first word but not yet with the last one. So, if you found yourself mentioning that last word, then you should know why weren’t your comment being displayed there. Sorry folks …. we’re keeping such this embargo alive.

Other issues

iPhone of course still made a big attention on blogosphere after Hutchison officially want to bring it on to Hongkong and Macau. Surely, this had attracted Mr. Budi to wrote an analysis about such possibility that Hutchison might also bring it on to Indonesia. Our beloved country ..

Hot issue news from corporate world comes from Motorola which Mr. Amir said that they will be bought by Japanese Kyocera. Hmmm, I’m still hope they won’t make that deal happen. Still in the land of Uncle Sam, I wrote an interesting summary from the Google I/O conference; Android from A to Z. If you still confuse on what Android truly is then this one is definitely for you. No fuss, no muss. I had picked up the most important issue on that post.

Sony Ericsson W980 Series. Attention!

On gadget, if you think that you’re already hand on the best music mobile phone with you, feel free to read my review on Sony Ericsson W980. A Walkman Series with a Bluetooth headset and HSDPA to speed up your surfing experience. He … he … like no other isn’t?

Beyond all of that, I personally would love to greet Mr. Amir Karimuddin in 3GWeek after quite long time didn’t get in touch with this blog. Welcome back Editor :) We’re glad you comeback! Oh yeah, don’t forget to make that rockstar post again!
