iPhone is officially in Japan

It is official, Softbank bring iPhone to Japan.

Yes this is a news, not a rumor anymore. The cool iPhone will be launch officially in Japan later this year. Thanks for Softbank, the Japan’s third largest wireless mobile carrier after NTT DoCoMo and KDDI. However, no details yet on the price, date and the type of iPhone itself.

Fortunately, guessing Japanese market is pretty easy. Especially on the iPhone type’s issue. Well, I dare to predict that this Japanese iPhone will be the 3G version one. Some reasons to be considered here:

1. Mobile service availability issue

Most Japanese will likely to abandon a 2G handset since it can’t give them a lot of choice in mobile services and entertainment.

2. Cultural issue

Japan had already popular as the place for sophisticated gadget or stuff. They mostly love the high-end one and leave the old one. If you don’t believe me, just ask Indonesian people about the second hand goods from Japan which being sent out to Indonesia since Indonesian tend to think that those goods is still good enough for them.

3. Economic issue

Price? Japanese market seems never have a significant issue on this. That’s why LG and Prada has a special gift for this country lately. So go on Apple, just rise up your charge here.

NTT DoCoMo gone mad

Shinjiro Minami, NTT DoCoMo spokesman said that they were unhappy about this agreement since they were also struggling for such this deal too. This dealt however will close the window for Apple and NTT DoCoMo to continue such a deal for iPhone again. At least for this short moment of time.

Note:

I did it!

Let’s get back to May 19th, 2008 for a while. In my post entitled “Will iPhone goes to South Korea and Japan?”, I had guessed before that there is a big chance for Apple to sell iPhone in a country like Japan than South Korea. Now, looks like I did it very well. Take a look here:

“Although David’s (Unwired blogger) argument can be real and correct, I still believe that for this short moment of time the answer maybe no (read: for South Korea) since Apple will likely to fill this target from US, India, Singapore, Australia, Philipphines, UK, France, Germany, Czech Republic and ….. perhaps Japan.”

This is my complete analysis about this. I hope you want to spend your time with it for a while.
