Indonesian Telkomsel goes to Middle East. For what?
When Indonesia’s largest network operator, Telkomsel decide to go to middle east, surely there is something interesting to find out. Yes they are! Yesterday, Telkomsel had arranged a negotiation with Qatar Telecom (Qtel) to bring their mobile payment business, Telkomsel Cash (T-Cash) to middle east.
Kiskenda Suriahardja, president director of Telkomsel said on a regional telecoms award ceremony that he expected this deal to be completed in the Q3 2008. He also added that this deal will have a chance to sum up Telkomsel’s market share as well as raising their company’s profit. I just want to say here; “Of course they will”.
What is T-Cash?
Telkomsel Cash or T-Cash for short is a service that let Telkomsel’s customers to use their cellphone as a tool to do some stuff such as purchasing goods or services, payment, and a like. The benefit is obvious, customers will not necessarily bring their money when they want to make such transaction.
Why Middle East?
In Middle East region, though I haven’t found a precise data about this issue yet, I believe that Telkomsel will offer this service for Indonesian Workers there to do some transactions. As an example, this service may give those workers a chance to send some of their income to their family or relatives in Indonesia without having to deal with foreign money transfer or even by visiting Indonesia directly.
