Sony Ericsson G702 (BeiBei) and P5 (Paris) are cancelled?
I don’t know why Sony Ericsson do a move like this, but media said that the Japan-Sweden is going to cancel two upcoming phones, G702 (also known as Beibei) and P5 (codenamed Paris). Se-nse editor said, the reason behind that is criticism from reviewers, including the one made by Mobile-Review.
I don’t think this likely to be a good move by the company which lose its fourth position in global market share, still the step must have been calculated. Again, we still have hope. There is slight chance that those dynamic duo will be launched in limited market in Asia. Which part of Asia? We’ll never know.
We know that G702 (BeiBei) has obtained approval from US supervision board, FCC. This is like a stamp-in post office-that the phone is ready to be in the market. Eldar however, noted in his review, that this new G-series will not compete with Nokia 6210 Navigator.
G702 also has cross functionality with previously announced G500 series and G900 series. Probably, the launch of G702 will possibly ruin the new G-series market, which aim to attack Nokia’s Nseries with its latest UIQ 3 Operating System. G702 is rumored to have WiFi and integrated GPS receiver.
As for Paris, we still don’t know yet about the specs. We are already waited too long for this phone to be announced. It is still a mystery then as there is no official explanation from Sony Ericsson execs-yet. How can they fight against Nokia then? Ups, I think they need to figure out first, how to step down LG position in market share. Only time-and Dick Komiyama-will tell.
