Sony Ericsson to revive old model?
If we follow the progress of Japan-Sweden company, Sony Ericsson, we must have been aware that one product that once being their sales milestone was T610. The simple-yet elegant-candybar that being launched in 2003 was a revolutionary product. It was the first to be equipped with STN 65K screen color. What’s the correlation with the latest Sony Ericsson product?
Probably Sony Ericsson want to repeat the T610 major success. They are rumored to unleash new product, codenamed Remi, as T610 successor. Quite strange codename actually, since Remi is commonly used as boy’s nickname, while Sony Ericsson tends to use girl’s name as phone codename.
Why after 5 years, they want to remember T610 success-again? Nobody know for sure. But, Sony Ericsson execs definitely in the hot seat as their sales this year (Q1 and Q2) resulted not as good as expected. Dick Komiyama, CEO of Sony Ericsson, may use this “New T610″ to embrace great sales momentum.
Remi is going to be produced based on W890 platform. This is a W890 without Walkman emblem and software. It will have 10.5 mm in length and 4.7 mm in width. The phone will run using latest A2 platform (as being used since K850) and equipped with HSDPA connectivity. The camera is measured at 3.2 megapixels with only fixed phone (this is not Cyber-shot series anyway).
For your information, we once used the term T610 successor when C702 was going to be introduced. Hopefully the launching date-and the present in the market-will be in very near future, at least this Q3 or Q4 before festive season, like Christmas, as they want to enhance their global sales.
