We are all waiting for the launch of iPhone 3G in the market. About a week from now, we can grab it in our own hand. But, before that, have we realized that not all area in the USA has been covered with 3G network. The guy in GearDiary are kindly enough to compile AT&T 3G/EDGE/GPRS coverage across the continental.

The area which is covered with blue color has already been covered by 3G network. The dark orange color represents EDGE coverage, while the light orange represents GPRS. Banded light orange is symboled partner GPRS with other operator.

What can we conclude from the map above? As we can see, there are very few area in the US that been covered by AT&T 3G network. It is approximately only 5% from all AT%T network! Take my advice then, don’t buy the latest iPhone 3G if you area has not been covered! It will be useless anyway, unless you want to buy it to show off to your friends or chicks out there.
