My fellow editor, Wim Permana, has done his part on reviewing 8hands PC application. Now, it is my turn to review 8hands in different area, mobile application. For this review, I am using my own Sony Ericsson K770i, which is fully supported by 8hands Mobile. Here we go:

1. Before registering, make sure that our phone is included in supported devices list.

*In the mean time, Motorola series do not support “Calling from 8hands” feature

2. Register ourselves in http://www.8hands.com/mobile/register

Fill all mandatory fields, including email address and password. Next, they will ask our mobile phone number. 8hands will send SMS to our number, containing the URL where you can download the application (as in step 3). We will also be asked to login to our account. I choose to enter my Facebook account.

3. Visit http://m.8hands.com from your phone browser

We can choose to access the download page via native browser (e.g: Sony Ericsson’s NetFront) or Opera Mini. I try to visit the URL via my PC browser and it doesn’t work out.

4. Download the mobile app to our phone.

It approximately has 177 KB in size (java based app). Later, the phone will automatically install the application.

5. Start the application

6. After entering email and password we can see the home page, containing information in my Facebook account (message, comments)

Sounds exciting, huh? Unfortunately, I couldn’t try “call other 8hands Mobile users” feature, since-of course-no friend of mine has used this app.

For those who has those social network accounts and not afraid on using GPRS/3G connectivity (due to its price charge), I think 8hands Mobile is very worth to have.
