Vietnam to have 3G network
Vietnam’s Ministry of Information and Communication is about to grant four licenses of 3G Network to boost the country’s mobile phone growth rate. Vietnam is categorized as quite late in implementing 3G Network compared to fellow countries in the South East Asia region.
Vietnam operators will cooperate with their foreign partner in this competition. MobiFone with France Telecom, NTT DoCoMo and Vina Phone, and Singtel with S-Fone are potential duo partners for 3G connectivity.
With population about 87 millions people, the phone subscribers has reached 48 millions according this June data. It is more than half population. Compared to last year data, the increase is more than 100%! It is larger than growth in fellow regional countries, like Thailand and Indonesia.
Currently, Viettel is becoming number one in market share with 19.4 million subscribers, followed with MobiFone (13.4 millions), Vina Phone (12.1 millions), and S-Fone (3.1 millions).
