What Android gadget should look like?
If Eric Schmidt does love his Android then it shouldn’t be a news anymore. But if he does love what Steve Jobs used to then it must be a kind of it. Okay, this is my brief conclusion after I read Fortune’s Yi-Wyn Yen blog post entitle “Schmidt: iPhone good for Google“.
On his post, Yen cited three excerpts from Schmidt which was sound like this:
“The iPhone has a fully functional browser. We can show desktop ads, not mobile ads. That’s a huge change from our perspective.”
And again this one,
“The iPhone’s competitors all have devices or devices coming out. It’s really simple. A phone is a GPS, a camera, a computer, and a browser. The combination of those four means more market opportunities for Google.”
Last,
“The most interesting social applications will be mobile-based because people are always moving,”
What Android gadget should looked like
From those three excerpts, which I am inspired by, we can predict that Google want to make a gadget that meet those requirements above. Well, shortly speaking, Android’s gadget will sports these features when it finally comes to crush the stores.
Big display screen
Of course, let’s repeat what he had stated above, ” …. desktop ads instead of mobile ads … ” Tiny screen works pretty well for texting or make a phone call. But to enjoy the web on its best mode, big display screen is a must.
Based on the iPhone screen size, that would be something like ” … 3.5-inch (diagonal) widescreen Multi-Touch display and 480 x 320 pixel at 163 ppi (pixel per inch) ….. “
Aha. That’s perfect!
GPS
Keep its users always on their right track. Though it won’t cover all cities in this earth on this near time but sooner or later this functionality will be a default features for most gadget in generals, including Android cell phone.
Camera
Android gadget should better come with this one unless you want your cellphone being listed as low-end handset. In fact, some people might want to put yours as a low-end cellphone if it’s only sports the VGA camera.
Browser
This is the gate of money. Stuff which make Google a billion dollar company today. It has proved itself in a desktop environment where screen is no longer a problem but in a mobile phone, Google’s Android gadget must learn a lot from champions like Opera Mini or Apple Safari. Good looking, nice rendering, and well done UI.
Computer
Well this is the point! In iPhone we used to call it the App store. Phone that want to mimic a computer must have such ability to extent its functions by utilizing the external apps. think PC with million of software surrounding it.
Okay, I think that’s all for today analysis. Anybody want to add his/her opinion here?
