Android and Symbian to merge. What?!
Wow, now if only there is one big rumor for this week (besides the arrival of iPhone 3G to Indonesia of course), I think I’ve got the answer. J. Gold Associates, a US-based tech analyst firm said on its research note that Nokia’s Symbian and Google’s Android is destined to be a single open source smartphone OS. What!?
And here comes those reasons:
1. First Reason
Both Nokia and Google are pursuing similar open source strategies with their mobile OS technology.
2. Second Reason
Many of the sponsors for both mobile OS are just the same companies or institution.
3. Third Reason
For Google itself, this joint-venture will ease them to build a single application that will work on single OS instead of two.
4. Fourth Reason
For Nokia itself, this merger could save their brand name on the eye of open source community.
5. Fifth Reason
For public developers, this unity will help them in creating mobile apps that will gain a larger market share.
Okay, that’s all what this firm had told us. On the next post, I’ll try to evaluate this issue. Oh man, how could they predict it like this. Shouldn’t we prepare ourself for that battle right now?
