Android and Symbian. No merger!

Yesterday, I’ve published two posts regarding this issue. First is on MobileWars Round Up which being held by TechCrunch while the second one is about an analysis from J. Gold Associates that Google’s Android and Nokia’s Symbian is going to be merged by their owners.

Although those reasons from J. Gold analyst is somewhat logical, for me it is too good to be true. Thankfully, today I have a great alibi to block this analysis. This alibi comes from Greg Kumparak, MobileCrunch’s blogger that attended the MobileWars round up.

He heard that David Rivas, VP of Technology Management for S60 Software at Nokia - he is one of the source we could trust on this issue - said that there were no plans from his company to merge the old Symbian with the kid named Android.

Check this excerpt from MobileCrunch.

Not so, says Nokia. During the Mobile Web Wars roundtable today, an audience member asked for opinions on the merger rumor. David Rivas, VP of Technology Management for S60 Software at Nokia, just so happened to be on the panel, and he stated (twice) that there were no plans to merge the two platforms.

Note:

I think I would prefer to follow what Mr. Rivas had stated on that round up. The reason to merge Android with Symbian is cool but also premature. How could a giant company like Nokia is giving their Symbian’s brand name to a debuting company in mobile industry, Google.

Yes we know Google is big, but it shouldn’t really that big to make Nokia scared to their Android. Come on, the war hasn’t even been started yet. Let’s enjoy it first.
