Sony Ericsson: 3 new Walkman phones announced, no one got surprised

Yes, this is quite old news. We have covered these 3 Walkman phones before-W902, W595, and W302-since they are still rumors. These line ups are designed to commemorate 3 years anniversary of Walkman series. When they finallly were launched, no one got surprised anymore. It has been predicted for about a month since Michell Bak has already told us everything!

I remembered about 4-5 years ago, when Sony Ericsson was still “new kids of the block”. Although having famous parent companies-Japan’s Sony and Sweden’s Ericsson-the brand was quite not familiar for public.

The first time attention they got was because of the launched of T610 (which is going to be remaked). It is candybar, sleek, simple, yet powerful for its color display and VGA camera. Later they began to steal more attention for K700 and got huge buzz for K750 and W800. It was when Eldar Murtazin from Mobile-Review displayed some kind of puzzles of new Sony Ericsson phone-later known as K750, the superb 2-megapixels-camera phone.

The Walkman series marked the resurrection of once famous Sony Walkman. Sony Ericsson then won the fourth position in global share, thanks to K800 and several other phones, including P-series and low end phones.

Now, as attention reached maximum, Sony Ericsson are getting more and more dissappointed. Their strategy is quite predictable, following Nokia way on doing more diversification, yet the product quality is getting worse than ever.

When Sony Ericsson launched their new product-about a week ago-no one got surprised. No one is astonished by the beauty of Asian-European mixture. Probably they have lost their appetites on Sony Ericsson. Sony Ericsson has fallen even worse than Motorola. Their Q1 and Q2 financial report are showing the real situation.

People now only know 3 kind of brands, Nokia, iPhone, and the rest. Will Sony Ericsson brand only become history about few years from now?
