Blackberry Bold price and price plan in Australia
Somebody has to said that a Bold is a RIM’s approach to attract an individual consumers as well as corporate gentlemen. Hmmm, the answer might still to be an X-files for most of us, especially since they hasn’t launched it yet. But luckily, this case will soon no longer become such an X-Files or CSI, or whatsoever because two carriers based on Australia has opened up their price plan for this RIM’s HSDPA device.
First carrier that dare enough to break the mystery of Bold is Optus. The Australian carrier, which also lucky to served the holy-launch day of iPhone, will start to sell this 3G device at August 20, 2008. And here is the Optus’ Bold price plan which I took it from APCMAG (can’t find it in Optus official site though):
An AUS$79 plan (which includes unlimited BlackBerry data and $300 worth of calls and text) for an additional $10 per month on a 24 month contract – in other words, $89/month.
While the second one is Telstra. Unlike Optus, Telstra seems to offer the Bold price plan with a combination between this device with the usage of their users laptop. But one thing for sure, the price will sky high though. Remember that those data which you’ll grab from the web is never yet to become a free. So here is the price plan:
The Bold can also be used as a ‘tethered modem’ — you can plug it into your laptop and use it as a modem. Back when Telstra had its EV-DO network, it used to offer a Blackberry plan that provided unlimited Blackberry usage as well as a number of hours of EV-DO broadband for your laptop using the tethered-modem capability. The plans offered unlimited Blackberry usage with five hours of EV-DO laptop broadband for $99, twenty hours for $129 or forty hours for $149 per month, all inclusive, including the handset repayments. Given Telstra’s sky-high rates for its Next G network, it seems unlikely it will offer such favourable pricing with the Bold, but we’re ever-hopeful Telstra will do the right thing by consumers.
Hey wait! What about the gadget itself? Don’t worry for this. Australian can get this Bold at AUS$795 in BlackBerryStore.com.au or at AUS$828 in SimplyMobiles.
