iPhone 3G has made Softbank beat rivals in term of new subscription

This report from Telecommunications Carriers Association (TCA), which I got via TechOn perhaps is a strong evidence that iShare’s survey on the beginning of June this year was totally a nonsense. Here is the iShare’s survey conclusion:

Survey from iShare said that 91.0% Japanese mobile phone users are not planning to purchase Apple Inc’s 3G iPhone.

Yeah, nice survey folks. And now get ready for the opposite result.

TCA has just reported that by July 2008, Softbank Mobile Corp has gained about 215,400 new subscriptions, compare to NTT DoCoMo’s 94,200 and Emobile Ltd’s 65,000 subscriptions. At the same time, another Japan wireless carrier, KDDI just added about 17,000 new subscriptions.

SoftBank Mobile’s PR Department said that this result were happened because of the iPhone 3G. Well, not only affecting their own growth, the launch of this sweet candy bar has also affected KDDI Corp. One of KDDI’s PR Department said that Softbank’s iPhone might also responsible for the huge number of cancellation with their users MNP (mobile number portability).

Wow, iPhone 3G is definitely cool. At least on the hand of Softbank and most Japanese. But how about on the other Asia countries such as India, Philippines, and Singapore? Will it rock the market as well? let’s just wait and see. We will cover it up for you.
