MicXon GX200: a portable gaming phone

Miss the glory of N-gage era? At its time, N-gage is one controversial gaming phone, yet it attracts million people (especially gaming geeks) to test and buy the products. Now, after N-gage is transformed to be software service, what is the successor as gaming phone?

MicXon answers the challenge. Singaporean based company is creating its own MicXon GX200. It really has 4-way buttons like PlayStation joystick. Apart from N-gage, most of GX200 games are based on Java platform. One good thing, it has TV-out capability, ease us to play the game using television display screen. The phone can be used to play 3 hours of non stop gaming.

According to its official site, here is the GX200 specification:

  • GSM 900/1800 (cannot be used in the USA)
  • 3.5 inch QVGA touchscreen
  • Music player
  • Digital photo frame
  • USB cable and Bluetooth connectivity
  • 2 units of 1.3 megapixels camera (front and back cover)
  • TV-out
  • 1 GB T-Flash external memory

Some reviews give impression about this handset:

  • Pro: Great gaming impression, nice gaming-style keypad, 2 cameras (front and back)
  • Contra: Inconvenience keypad, mono audio quality, bad messaging experience
