Synergy’s US smartphone market share: iPhone number 2, Blackberry still on top
Synergy Research unveil their market share result in Q2 2008 for USA region. There two kinds of report that we need to pay attention. The first is US Mobile Handset report, still placing Motorola as the king with 25% share.
Among total phone market share, smartphone scores 12.2%. This is quite significant for smartphone growth in the region, since last year smartphone represented last than 10%.
Let’s take a look at smartphone market share. Blackberry is dominating the list with 46%. Looks like most people are using smartphone for business purposes. Yet, for only a year, iPhone (and current iPhone 3G) has managed to steal 15% of total smartphone market. Motorola, in other hand, only placed in number 3 for this category.
Analyst believes that sooner than later, iPhone (and other Apple’s next products) will be serious contender to Blackberry line ups.
