Indonesia’s AXIS launches new “cheap” tariff plan for SMS and data
Indonesia’s youngest GSM operator has been aggresively increasing their subscribers by offering cheap tariff plan. After successfully launched IDR 1 per call (everyday!) to intra-call, now AXIS is launching the newest package, called “paket paling ASIX” or literally translated as “the coolest package”, which promotes IDR 1 per SMS (for intra network) and free 1 MB data usage per day. After using 1 MB, consumer only pay IDR 0.5 per KB, or about IDR 500 per MB. Remember, IDR 1 is even less than 1 cent US dollar since 1 cent US dollar still equals to IDR 100!
Johan Buse-AXIS’ Chief Marketing Officer-said in his press release that the new plan is aimed for students who need SMS and data service in affordable prices (of course need to be affordable for student’s financial capacity. Besides that, consumer also obtain IDR 100 per minute (in air time form) if they get called by their friends or colleagues whom use other operators. What a generous move by AXIS!
If check table above, AXIS’ new tariff plan is simpler and quite cheap compared to other GSM competitors. There is no time limit explained in this press release. AXIS is majority owned by Saudi Telecom (state owned Saudi telecom company) and Malaysia’s Maxis. Together, they serve 45 million consumers in 9 countries. AXIS network is planned to reach national full coverage by the end of 2009.

Honestly, I the Telkomsel user since 2006. Maybe Axis could compete with the Telkomsel popularity for the stage to the front?
Thanks..
