No 3G network in India this year
Indian iPhone 3G potential customers should be very upset knowing this news. Today, Reuters reported that the country finance ministry has objected to the guidelines regarding 3G spectrum announced by India telecom minister without its consultations.
The guidelines itself, which has been announced on August 1 this year, would enable India’s wireless operators to provide rich communication features such as fast Internet access, video calls, games and some of multimedia contents on cell phones.
The finance ministry spokesperson, D. Subbarao, said that the issue of this 3G guidelines, without any consultation with the finance ministry, either within the forum of Telecom Commission or outside, is inappropriate and contrary to the cabinet decision.
The impact
This delay will retard the enjoyment of some Indian to get the most of their 3G-powered mobile phones. As the world’s fastest growth country in term of wireless subscription, India has been known as one of the fastest country which often get the latest product release from a multiple mobile phone manufacturers. And Apple is not an exception too. Steve Jobs had targeted India as one of the most potential country to reach surpass their iPhone sales target this year.
