Online petition to fight Singtel’s iPhone 3G price plan
Are you a Singaporean who dislike, or even disrespect the Singtel’s iPhone 3G price plan? Well I hope you are one of those iQuitters out there. Ha .. ha .. ha .. just kidding. Now you can join some of them and Benjamin Toh ([email protected]) to sign an online petition through this website.
Here is the message of this petition:
To: Singtel
The petition is aimed to Singtel, the exclusive distributor of IPhone 3G, to better price the IPhone 3G which I believe is unreasonable at its current pricing. They are currently offering the IPhone 3G with prices which is almost double of the recommended retail price set by Apple, which is US$299.
Being set at SG$728 to upgrade/use a current plan which is 18 months old, the price is just madness. With Singapore’s mobile phone penetration rate of more than 122.5%, I doubt there are people who wants to get another plan just for the IPhone 3G, which is “cheaper”.
With Apple corp trying to break 10million IPhone 3G target by year end, I believe something have to be done to stop Telecom operators to cash in on apple fans who have been loyal to apple.
Being deprived of IPhone since its launch, something has to be done by Apple to stop operators from making use of the hype of the product to “manipulate” the market..
Sincerely,
Is it gong to fail?
Currently, it has only gained eight petitions. That’s just too bad. I myself who want to sign this petition felt very uncomfortable after knowing that it is only eligible for they who are Singaporean and Apple Fans.
Wow, I guess this petition is just going to fail since tomorrow will become the d-day of iPhone 3G debut in Singapore. Now forget about this petition and let see, can iPhone 3G create such line up like the one we used to see in New York or New Zealand? I think this one will be much more interesting and somewhat logical to predict this touch screen pioneer sales in Singapore. Do you agree with me?

This entry is not about SINTEL but SingTel. They are different organizations.
This entry has to do with SingTel’s iPhone pricing not about SINTEL’s breaching of workers’ rights.

With all due respect to Garatusa, here is the translation of his/her comment via Google Translate:
There are lot of companies use SINTEL as their name. Which one do you refer to?

Kind of funny? The petition should be towards Apple rather than Telcos operators. Wonder who is cashing on the deal? Why cant Apple sell as a normal phone?

@Amir Karimuddin
if you immerge yourself into chinese digital/tech forums, the “成功人士” is actually been sarcastic (because some exaggerating ads, me like the word~) XXD

Well yeah its kind of ridiculous since the iphone doesnt even support bluetooth sending…
I’m just kinda worried about the next phone that singtel might release…
the hell holy xperia x1…If its waayyy to expensive…I might make my own petition..
but Ben it was mighty awesome of you to make the petition..
Its kind of a discrimination as well, since those families who have normal income wont be able to indulge in the Iphone…they can foot the bill…but not the phone…

Well Mr Cool I read your reply and it isnt Apple’s fault,Singtel overpriced the Iphone a little bit (okay alot!)……
The ridiculous increase makes you wonder whether to get one while its exclusive or wait til a new “X-calibur” comes out…..
Personally, the iphone isnt all that…I was kind of pissed off since the bluetooth sending function was disabled by Apple…..
again back to the price issue, one reason of the price increase must be that singtel released it while it had no competitors…
Its simple really its like a shopping sale, you take the one of a kind shirt then re-sell them at a high price since they’re rare…
