HTC Dream Android: when, what, how much?

The news has been flowing around these days about this latest Google Android. The Linux based phone is coming to USA market real soon. Anyway, since there are lot of information to be written to our readers, I’ll wrap it up into three categories. They are when, what, and how much. Let’s get started!

When?

The phone will be initially introduced by T-Mobile on September 23. That’s about a week from now. The US operator is rumored to launch this phone in market by October 20. When will this phone be circulated worldwide? Nobody sure yet.

As the phone was initially coined last November, Google is truly be able to implement it in about a year. iPhone could do it in 6 months, but since Google is not an electronics company, I think it is acceptable.

What?

There are 3 what for this phone. The first is the phone itself, the second is the Operating System, and the last is the applications above it. The first phone to be equipped with this OS is Taiwan’s HTC Dream. Created by the company who also creates the recent Palm Treo Pro, HTC Dream is a phone with side sliding form factor. Pretty much like SE Xperia, but not with its curve factor. The surface seems so plasticy, but hopefully the true one will hold better material.

The Operating System is based on Linux OS. Integrated with native Google Apps and voila! Here come the Android! Linux OS is known for its stability. We really hope that the phone is released in final version so there won’t be any buggy situation occurred to annoy consumers. As for application, Google has finished the ADS competition and several useful applications have became the winner. I dunno whether all of them will be available during the launch or not.

How much?

This is everyone question. Rumor said it will cost US$ 200 (or 199) with contract, the same as the iPhone 3G 8GB. I think it is great idea. Higher initial value will make people run away. If the phone is really really good, the sales will speak itself.

Anyway, I would like to say: Welcome aboard Google Android into mobile market! Here is the video shot at Google Developer Day in London:

Well its about time, browsing on the cell phone is going to be the tech of the future. Plug the glasses into the phone and there is a full screen bigger then that of any PC, the glasses monitor technology is already out and about, now they got to better it. Agreed welcome Google mobile.

O my god how ugly can a phone get, if it was in black it would be a little better.
