Visa to back Android and Nokia for financial service
Credit card provider, Visa, said that the financial payment like in Japan will not be socialized in US any soon, but Visa is going to launch a financial service for Android phone (e.g: T-Mobile G1) and Nokia, hoping to expand its businesses. Visa is going to build a transaction alert and special offer from merchants, building on top of Google Maps and location based technology. Consumers also may able to find nearby cash machine and store for special store. Beside that, there will be also contactless payment solution. The solution will work first for Visa user of JPMorgan Chase bank, then will continue with other banks.
As for Nokia, the Finn manufacturer will launch new 6212 Classic phone that will work for electronic reader to make payment, including remote payment and money transfer. The phone will be available in the market by October next year. Visa said, there are 3 billion cellphone users in the world, while there are “only” 1.6 billion Visa users. This approach may help Visa enhancing its market to mobile technology.
