Sony Ericsson’s CTO: Windows Mobile for US market, still stick to Symbian (UIQ)
Most interview about new phone product is aimed to CEO or VP Marketing, but this time it is the Chief Technology Officer of Sony Ericsson, Mr. Mats Lindoff, that has opportunity on commenting its corporate step until now. He admitted that the place he works now is over-diversified, therefore cannot create a high quality product, like the previous T610, P800, or K750.
He also responded about Sony Ericsson’s step on taking Windows Mobile for the first time into its Xperia X1. It is really aim to take more attention in US market. He said:
Operators have demanded a Windows Mobile device for the past five years so it’s driven by them for enterprise customers. Yes, you could say it is primarily for the US market.
Moreover, he confirmed that the Japan-Sweden joint venture is committed to its Symbian Foundation agreement. He promises that next year, Sony Ericsson will release new Xperia line with Symbian (UIQ) and really high end device! Uhm, can’t wait to see that happen.
Yet, I am still hoping that Sony Ericsson really consider on implementing Android platform into its line up next year.
