Mozilla to create Mobile Browser within weeks
In an interview with San Jose Mercury News, Mozilla’s CEO, John Lily, said that his side is going to launch beta version of Mozilla’s mobile (Firefox) browser. Just few weeks away from today, he said. When Pete Carey, the journalist ask about what you (Mozilla) are going to do in mobile, Mr. Lily answered:
We want to make sure that the Web on mobile is more like the Web than what the mobile industry offers today, which is closed, separate networks and not a very good information-getting experience for the user. The first thing is to bring Firefox to mobile devices. We’re working on that, and we’ll see some alphas in a few weeks.
Well, this is a really good news for Mozilla fans. Compared to other browser creators (Microsoft, Opera, Apple, and Google-with Android platform), Mozilla is the only one that has not yet entered mobile market.
To remind you, Apple has banned any 3th party software to minimize a competition with its native app in iPhone, so I think Firefox Mobile is going to test mobile browser market for Android platform, Java platform, and Windows Mobile platform. It should be uber great app to beat Opera that has conquered this market (with Opera Mobile and Opera Mini) for years!
