Nokia 5800 XpressMusic offered in 7 countries by year-end, miss Christmas rush
Nokia 5800 XpressMusic-previously known as Tube-will be offered starting in 7 countries by year-end. The lucky countries are India, Indonesia, United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong, Spain, Taiwan, and Russia. As it only be sold in few countries, it will miss the Christmas rush, where people crazily go shopping for Christmas present. But I think those 7 countries represent the highest Nokia market worldwide, so Nokia will only miss “a little of sales”.
The 5800 XpressMusic will be offered at US$ 387 price tag (no contract), before operator subsidies or taxes, definitely cheaper than iPhone. Analyst Neil Mawston from Strategy Analytics said:
The phone is competitively priced and Nokia’s competitive advantage is in emerging markets. When putting two and two together it’s logical they start the roll-out from emerging markets.
